Extravagance on the cliffs of South Bali
On the Southern most point of the Bukit Peninsular, the high class hotel brand Alila has opened one of her most impressive luxury resorts as of yet. Alila Uluwatu is perched on a 150 meter high cliff, overlooking the crystal blue seas of Bali’s South coast.
Not only the location is jaw-dropping, the chic design is extraordinary to say the least. Modern lines are combined with natural materials, creating a cutting edge look. The piece de resistance is a 50 meter infinity pool surrounded by beautifully designed lounge cabanas.
There are 65 open-plan pool villas, set out on a hill that can be reached by foot or buggy. The villas are spacious and equipped with anything you could possibly need, such as an outdoor shower, an outdoor terrace and most importantly, complete privacy.
For dinner you will have the choice between Indonesian flavours in ‘Warung’ or Western influence ‘Cire’, both equally recommended. Afternoon tea is served in the infamous sunset cabanas overhanging the cliff.
Days at Alila exist of lounging around the spacious and beautiful designed pool area, taking an aerial or stand up paddle board yoga class or indulging in a spa treatment. If you are feeling active, venturing down hundreds of steps to get to a beautiful beach is definitely worth it.
Alila is taking significant steps to become more sustainable and they are the first hotel in Indonesia to receive the hight level certificate in Best Practice Building Planning and design. On top of that, the hotel supports a foundation that works to break the poverty cycle by educating women. The other foundation Alila donates too is Bali Life Foundation who look after orphaned and abandoned children.
