First time in New York City

As much as we are all about off the beaten track travel here at the Travel Lab, when it is your first time in New York City aka 'The city of Dreams' it is part of the experience to cross a few famous landmarks off the list that you have seen over and over gain in every movie, commercial or tv series.

So here we go, some of our favourite well known hotspots in New York City.

The Brooklyn Bridge
This aesthetically pleasing bridge connects Manhattan with, surprise surprise, vibrant Brooklyn. You can walk over it admiring the impressive view, or do as the locals do and start your day here with a morning run.

Top of the Rock
There are many amazing view points in this city, but the top op the Empire State Building is definitely one of the best out there. Tickets are quite pricey, but worth it. Go early to beat the crowds.

China Town
Pay a visit for the fresh produce sold on the streets, the most amazing food in one of the many restaurants or to admire the colourful, organised mess in this exciting part of town.

Flat Iron Building
There are many towers in the race for the tallest building in NYC but there is only one clear winner for the skinniest building in the city. The architectural wonder that calls itself Flat Iron is worth a little detour.

Broadway & Times Square
Let's be honest, you can't really fly out of New York without spending a few minutes at the infamous Times Square and surround yourself with flashy neon lights.

Soho & Little Italy
If you are into shopping at the little trendy boutiques and lunching at the hippest cafes, SoHo is the place to spend your afternoons. Neighbouring Little Italy offers authentic Italian Food, as long as you do your research and avoid the tourist traps.

MoMa & the Met
Two of the most well known museums in NYC, the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum are both impressive and a highlight on every art lover's agenda.
