The Hip & Happening Design Hotel in Seminyak, Bali

It is hard to imagine upscale Seminyak without the imposing Potato Head, one of Bali’s most famous beach clubs. The masterminds behind this endeavour have now opened an inviting design hotel right next door.

Meet the Katamama, made out of 1.5 million hand pressed red bricks, which were originally used to construct Bali’s holy temples. The materials and the award winning architecture give the hotel a distinct New York-ish vibe.

The 57 rooms are decked out in the same elegant style and each include a spacious balcony, living area and walk-in-closet.

The artworks that are decorating the loft-like rooms, are all beautifully made by local artists. This conscious decision to incorporate as many traditional artisans is part of Katamama’s ethical policy. You’ll find hand woven fabrics that are custom made and hand dyed, as well as traditional baskets throughout the hotel.

The ground floor restaurant offers locally sourced dishes mixing Indonesian and International flavours. If you prefer a private in-room dining experience, that can be arranged.

This boutique hotel is located within the classy hustle and bustle of Seminyak, steps away from the beach. A stay at Katamama grants you VIP access to Potatoe Head Beach Club. If you ever get tired of the fancy beach life, exciting and some sustainable day tours can be organised through the hotel.
