Where to Stay in Salvador

Salvador or Sao Salvador is the capital of the swinging Brazilian state Bahia, in the North Eastern part of the country. This remarkable  city brings together an eclectic mix of  African, Portuguese and of course Brazilian influences.

There is no better place to stay than in the beautiful 'Pelourinho', the historic heart of the city, listed as UNESCO world heritage.  Although the tourism is quite noticeable in some parts, the charm and architecture is unmatched in the country and many others.
Walking around the cobblestone streets and plaza's, you find yourself wading through the late 17th and 18th century when the Portuguese reined their colony.

This city has Rhythm, it won't be hard to stumble upon a Capoeira circle, the traditional martial arts dance performed in any open space.

In the middle of the Pelourinho, on one of the most beautiful streets in the city, you can find Villa Bahia. This boutique hotel is as charming as the historical heart of Salvador, located in one of the impressive colonial mansions.

The 17 elegant rooms each reflect a period of Bahia's history.  The 3 story building overlooks the colourful facades of the city. An inviting plunge pool and patio are ready to use for a hot summer day.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant, with local freshly brewed coffee and the traditional staples. French cuisine with local ingredients is served for Lunch and Dinner.

Villa Bahia works hard to conserve water and electricity, to recycle and to only make use of environmentally friendly products.

If you want to match your stay with the charm of the city, this is the place to go.
